Liverpool Girl Geeks Bootcamp - Sony Visit
Liverpool Girl Geeks is a company working to inspire women and girls of all ages to pursue a career in the tech sector. Currently, they're hosting a 6 week bootcamp program for girls aged 11-16, to do just that.
Due to their recent partnership with Sony, one of their activities involved a visit to our Liverpool building, and I volunteered to be part of the team to welcome them.
My role was to set up and manage a station with various PlayStation consoles titled 'PlayStation through the years'. The girls would arrive in groups of 8, spend 10 minutes playing the games, and move on to the next activity. The purpose of this was to keep them entertained between presentations.
The event went well, the girls seemed very excited to be here, and enjoyed the games we gave them to play. I made sure to make everyone feel welcome and entertained, by enthusiastically showing them to each game, assisting with and talking about the games, and moving them from station to station when necessary.
At the end of the day they all left looking happy / excited, so hopefully we've succeeded in inspiring some young women to seeking a career in the tech or gaming industries!
